$67 Million in Grants Awarded for the
Development of Alternate Assessments for Students with Disabilities

The US Department of Education has awarded two grants for the purpose of developing a new generation of alternate assessments for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. North Dakota is a member state of the National Center and State Collaborative Partnership which has been awarded $45 million. Another grant of $22 million has been awarded to the Dynamic Learning Maps Alternate Assessment System Consortium. These alternate assessments will be developed in alignment with the Common Core State Standards released on June 2, 2010.
